Curriculum

The curriculum this year is based on The Ontario Curriculum
(Ministry of Education and Training)
1997-1998

Language Program:
This year we will focus on reading, writing and spelling, exploring short stories, poetry and chapter books. the novels we will be studying this year include The Iron Man by Ted Hughes, Stuart Little by E.B. White, Black Beauty by Anna Sewell and Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone by J.K. Rowling.

The Math Program:
There are five strands of study to our math program:

1.  number sense and numeration
2.  measurement
3.  geometry and spatial sense
4.  patterning and algebra
5.  data management and probability

Science and Technology Program will examine growth and changes in animals, magnetic and charged materials, energy from wind and moving water, stability and air and water inth environment.

Social Science Program will explore urban and rural communities as well as communities from around the world.

Arts Program will consist of Music, Drama and Visual Arts. We will also have an Orff music lesson every Tuesday until December.
